Description
Ryuho, a member of the Fūma ninja clan, possesses a large build and immense physical strength, standing as the tallest featured clan member. He has brown hair, dark eyes, and wears the clan's dark blue uniform. His personality blends a gentle, optimistic nature with impulsiveness; he frequently acts without forethought and struggles to control his strength in combat, necessitating intervention from comrades. Despite this, he serves as a social stabilizer within the group, fostering trust and cohesion, and is valued for his reliability in teamwork and missions.
In the Yasha Chapter, Ryuho arrives with Ryōma and Kōu to aid an injured Kojirō, carrying him to safety. Later, he attacks Byakko to avenge fallen comrades Rinpyō and Kōu but is restrained, allowing Shōryū to strike the final blow. After the deaths of Reira and Kabutomaru, he witnesses the final Fūma-Yasha clash and departs with the surviving Fūma.
During the Sacred Sword War arc, Ryuho survives an initial Chaos assault alongside Kojirō and is rescued by Ryōma. He sees the Fūma leader fall and subsequent Hida clan events. Tasked with reconnaissance to identify Chaos and locate sacred swords, he separates from Kojirō but fails his objectives. After Ryōma vanishes, he remains on standby with Shōryū and Kirikaze, awaiting updates on the cosmic conflict.
In the Fūma Rebellion arc, Ryuho aggressively interrogates clan traitor Raien, nearly killing him in rage before Kirikaze intervenes. He participates in a trap for rebel Fūma members using Raien as bait. After defeating several traitors, Raien escapes, leading Kirikaze to pursue him. Ryuho and Shōryū deduce the rebels are under collective hypnosis and confront the suspected orchestrator, Muma, but are defeated. Rescued by Kojirō and Ryōma, they split up to pursue fleeing rebels. Ryuho encounters Shimon, the rebellion's true leader, who overwhelms him in combat. Resisting Shimon's mind control, Ryuho is killed while trying to warn his clanmates to flee. A gravestone bears his name.
The live-action drama expands Ryuho's role. He arrives with multiple Fūma members to counter the Yasha clan and is assigned to support Hakuo Academy by participating in an unrealized judo competition. He defeats Yasha General Kurojishi in a judo match but refuses a lethal strike, distinguishing sport from combat. His strength is shown through feats like lifting boulders and hurling enemies. This version positions him as a higher-ranking member under Ryōma, entrusted with leadership duties and logistical coordination, like task distribution. After the final battle against the Yasha, he returns to Fūma Village with the survivors.
Across all media, rival clans recognize Ryuho as one of the Fūma's five strongest members despite limited direct combat showcases. The original manga attributes no special abilities beyond superhuman strength, though the OVA briefly depicts an aura enhancing his attacks. The drama emphasizes his mentorship, advising Kojirō that ninjas fight so ordinary youths need not endure such battles.
