Sendayu Kuzuryu leads the Kuzuryu clan, one of the twelve martial arts families tied to the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac and head of the six western families. Father to Momoko Kuzuryu, he resides in the mountains where he rigorously trained her from childhood in the clan's Hairaichiden Musou Style. His unconventional training methods included force-feeding Momoko excessive quantities of eggs to build endurance, inadvertently creating her lasting aversion to them.

He initiated the arranged marriage between Momoko and Koushi Inuzuka, heir to the rival Inuzuka clan (aligned with the Dog zodiac and leading the eastern families). This pact stemmed from a longstanding rivalry that transformed into mutual respect between Sendayu and Unken Inuzuka, Koushi's father. The union aimed to unite the twelve zodiac families through blood ties and produce an heir capable of mastering the Kuzuryu clan's techniques, which Sendayu believed Momoko could not fully achieve as a female.

Embodying traditional martial arts values, Sendayu prioritizes strength, honor, and clan legacy. He possesses a muscular, imposing build and facial hair consistent with older-generation masters. After sending Momoko to the Inuzuka household to fulfill the marriage, Sendayu largely remains offscreen. His influence persists through the marriage pact's impact on the central conflict and Momoko's dedication to its fulfillment.
