Description
Swamp Gordon, formerly Pirate King Bruce Dockley's trusted "right arm" and "right-hand man," commanded significant responsibility within Bruce's organization. After Bruce died at Madame Marciano's hands, Swamp embraced a new life as a preacher, earning his community's respect and affection. Despite this peaceful existence, he nurtured a deep grudge against Bruce's associate, Mister. This stemmed from Bruce entrusting Mister, not Swamp, with his daughter Franca Dockley's care, triggering Swamp's immediate hostility and tendency to draw his weapon upon encountering Mister.

Compelled to personally assess Mister's worthiness to protect Franca and uphold Bruce's trust, Swamp left his pastoral duties to join the starship Coyote's crew. His integration sparked frequent arguments and conflicts, especially with crewmate Bishop. Throughout the journey to find Bruce's hidden treasure on the doomed planet Graceland, Swamp remained a vigilant, armed presence, reflecting his ingrained combat instincts alongside his religious calling. His character development centered on navigating his initial animosity towards Mister while pursuing their shared goal of safeguarding Franca and securing Bruce's legacy.

Visually within the anime series, Swamp Gordon exhibited a notable trait: he was conspicuously absent from both the opening and ending credit sequences, occasionally leaving noticeable gaps where his presence might be anticipated. His story arc concluded within the main series narrative, focusing solely on his mission to evaluate Mister and aid Franca.
