Description
Chiyo Tsukidate is a first-year student arriving at St. Miator's Girls' Academy on Astraea Hill. She becomes a "room temp," a younger student performing cleaning duties as a maid for senior students in exchange for academic assistance. Specifically assigned to serve Nagisa Aoi and Tamao Suzumi, Chiyo cherishes this opportunity, especially the chance to be close to Nagisa.

Chiyo possesses a shy and timid personality, often struggling to articulate herself clearly. She is prone to clumsiness and nervousness, particularly around the intensely admired Nagisa, whom she addresses as "Nagisa-onee-sama." Her devotion manifests in numerous ways: losing sleep practicing introductions for Nagisa, sharing her pink umbrella when Nagisa loses hers, and diligently striving to be a "useful little sister." She expresses desires like sharing a beach umbrella with Nagisa and applying lotion on her, though she settles for playing beach ball. Punished alongside others for a late-night tea party, she blames herself for Nagisa's involvement and weeps after tending to Nagisa's injury.

Her feelings include daydreams of walking together under a bluish-purple umbrella and fantasies of becoming Nagisa's partner in the Etoile election. Visiting a forest sanctuary, she prays solely for Nagisa's happiness, prioritizing it even if Nagisa pursues relationships with others like Shizuma Hanazono. Chiyo bakes cookies to energize Nagisa and defends her against criticism for reduced tea party attendance. She runs long distances to see Nagisa wear a red dress and feels elated by coincidental library encounters, attributing them to joining the Library Committee.

Discovering Nagisa and Shizuma's romantic relationship causes significant emotional turmoil; Chiyo reacts with shock and tears, perceiving Nagisa as "out of reach." She idolizes Shizuma, describing her as "heavenly" and "beautiful" after seeing her Etoile coronation picture. Despite her heartbreak, Chiyo acknowledges Nagisa's happiness with Shizuma and continues supporting her, calling Nagisa "magnificent" during the Etoile selection. Her devotion persists through separations like summer vacation, where she cries in Nagisa's lap, wishing to stay at the academy rather than return home.

As a member of the Library Committee, Chiyo works in Astraea's library. Her studious nature aligns with this role, providing opportunities to assist Nagisa, such as enlisting friends to search for Nagisa's lost umbrella.

Chiyo was born on April 1. Her surname, Tsukidate, combines "moon" (月) and "mansion" (館). Her given name, Chiyo, means "thousand" (千) and "generation" (代) or "world" (世).
