Description
Bakumaru, full name Bakuretsumaru, leads the Eto Rangers as Ranger Number 1 and primary protagonist. He earned this position by winning the decisive race to select the twelve animal spirits protecting Mugen. As the anthropomorphic mouse spirit representing the rat in the Chinese zodiac, he possesses light purple skin, brown hair, and blue eyes. His attire consists of a blue vest, white tunic, white gloves bearing his Ranger badge on the left, and a distinctive red visor hat.
He exhibits a strong sense of justice and heroism, frequently tempered by impulsiveness, arrogance, and recklessness—often charging into battles beyond his skill. Despite this, he maintains a fundamentally compassionate nature and deep care for his companions. A defining trait is his debilitating ailurophobia (fear of cats), stemming from persistent childhood bullying by the cat spirit Chocolat. This trauma initially caused him to faint upon encountering feline adversaries like the Jyarei monster Genen.
