Description
The Chief of Police in Shinjuku commands law enforcement with authoritative prowess, covertly advancing chaos under Eko’s influence. When devastation engulfs the city, he establishes a shelter for refugees, only to shed his human disguise and reveal himself as Ushi-oni—a yōkai lurking beneath a fabricated identity.
Operating from within the police hierarchy, Ushi-oni manipulates crises to orchestrate brutal attacks on shelter residents, consuming victims to augment his supernatural power. His schemes entangle Detective Sagisaka Minoru, an investigator of occult crimes, and Yoshiko, Sagisaka’s daughter, who narrowly escaped Ushi-oni’s earlier massacre. During a pivotal confrontation at the shelter, the yōkai’s relentless pursuit of Yoshiko compels Sagisaka to forfeit his life to ensure her survival.
Ushi-oni’s allegiance to Eko’s goal of toppling Tokyo’s stability drives his transformation from respected leader to treacherous predator, symbolizing the corrosive interplay between hidden yōkai agendas and human governance. His reign culminates in a violent clash with Otoha, who, upon reclaiming his abilities as a karas, destroys Ushi-oni, halting the chaos—for now. The yōkai’s duplicity exposes the vulnerability of institutions infiltrated by supernatural forces and the ethical erosion such infiltration breeds.
