Description
In the anime "Brave King GaoGaiGar Final Grand Glorious Gathering," FuRyu is a member of the Gutsy Galaxy Guard's Mobile Unit. He is classified as a Super-AI Vehicle Machine, designated as model number GBR-6. His name, meaning "Wind Dragon," reflects his association with wind-based attacks. FuRyu was developed by China's Space and Aviation Academy, a fact that distinguishes him from some of his counterparts and is subtly referenced in his design and name.
Unlike the rescue-oriented robots he was based on, FuRyu and his brother RaiRyu were initially programmed with a more aggressive combat protocol where the destruction of the enemy was the highest priority, and the protection of human lives was a much lower concern. However, their time with the GGG, particularly witnessing the bravery of their senior colleagues HyoRyu and EnRyu, led them to reprogram their own priorities, making the protection of human life their primary mission.
In terms of personality, FuRyu is generally calm and calculated, similar to HyoRyu. He is portrayed as a composed and reliable older brother figure, especially in his dynamic with the more impulsive RaiRyu. A unique and notable quirk is his obsessive-compulsive trait regarding cleanliness; he becomes visibly distressed and vocal in disorderly environments, occasionally breaking into a stereotypical tirade that is humorously explained as a bug in his Japanese translation software. He respects his seniors, HyoRyu and EnRyu, and looks up to them as models.
FuRyu's role in the story is primarily as a frontline combatant. His alternate mode is a cement mixer, and in robot mode, the mixing drum is mounted on his back and can be swung over his shoulder to serve as his primary weapon, the Jiao Ban Ji. He uses a dial on his chest to select different power levels for this weapon. Level Two, Feng Dao Dan or "Wind Missiles," fires a rapid barrage of projectiles, which is later upgraded to more powerful Ul-Tech beams. Level Three, Fun Gu Glue, releases a stream of compressed air that can form a defensive wall to deflect enemy attacks. Level Four, Jiao Dan Ji, allows him to achieve flight using the mixer. He is also known to carry an extremely powerful self-destruct bomb in a compartment in his leg.
