Description
William Jones, eldest son of wealthy Victorian London merchant Richard Jones and Aurelia Jones, belongs to a family striving for higher social standing. Possessing pale green eyes, light blonde hair, and an average height and build, he typically wears luxurious Victorian suits, top hats, and status-appropriate accessories.

Initially a shy and awkward child, especially around his strict governess Kelly Stownar, William carried a respectful demeanor into adolescence. He cultivated a kind and open-minded outlook rare among the gentry. This manifested in his immediate romantic feelings for Emma, a maid employed by Kelly, despite rigid class barriers. Their first encounter happened when Emma accidentally struck him with a door while serving coffee at Kelly's home. He frequently waited near Regent Street to intercept her during errands, gifting her a lace handkerchief as a token of affection.

Facing intense familial pressure to secure the legacy through an aristocratic marriage and business management, William confided in his father about his love for Emma, only to meet stern opposition. This led Emma to leave London without a farewell. Her departure spurred William's maturation; he immersed himself in business and social engagements, adopting a facade of dignity to meet his father's expectations while privately grieving. This culminated in his engagement to Eleanor Campbell, an arrangement designed to bolster the family's social position.

A turning point came when Emma, disguised as a companion to Aurelia using the alias "Mrs. Trollope," attended William's engagement party. Their reunion rekindled his resolve. He broke off the engagement with Eleanor, confronting her family and facing backlash from his own, save for support from siblings Grace and Colin. This ignited conflicts with his father and Eleanor's father, Viscount Campbell, who orchestrated Emma's abduction to America. William employed his resources—tracking Emma via investigative deduction and business connections—to rescue her, demonstrating newfound determination and resourcefulness.

Throughout his challenges, William maintained a close bond with Hakim Atawari, an Indian prince he met at Eton College. Their friendship, forged despite initial language barriers, provided emotional support and candid advice during William's societal struggles. Overcoming familial and societal resistance, William married Emma. They adopted the surname "Stownar" to honor Kelly and later had children. His evolution from a hesitant heir to a decisive protector of his personal and familial aspirations defined his character arc.
