Noriaki Kuroyanagi is the younger brother of Tetsuko Kuroyanagi and the son of violinist Moritsuna Kuroyanagi and Cho Kuroyanagi. Belonging to the Kuroyanagi family, Noriaki lived through the Second World War, a period when his father's military deployment left his mother solely responsible for raising the children amid significant hardship.
