She resurfaces unexpectedly as a well-known model, though avoids discussing her career, during Tanaka's birthday gathering at the Cubic Cafe. At this event, Kanata and Tanaka become entangled in an accident culminating in Tanaka's death. This tragedy deeply impacts the group, straining Shougo's current relationship with Neo as they process their loss.

Kanata remains present in the aftermath of Tanaka's death. Neo worries Shougo may rekindle his past relationship with her, creating emotional tension. During the subsequent Christmas season, Shougo resolves their emotional ties, prompting Kanata's departure for America and concluding her direct role in that narrative.

In a later series appearance, Kanata provides a voice-based cameo as the DJ "KANATA" for the radio show "T-Wave" within "Memories Off 6: T-wave," without a physical presence.
