Description
Hayame emerges as a central force within the story, first glimpsed as an enigmatic figure dwelling near a secluded stream. Her fate intertwines with Gaō, a former bandit, after he rescues a drowning ladybug—later revealed as her companion—by sheltering it on a leaf. In gratitude and bound by an unspoken connection, she assumes human form to seek him, weaving their destinies together.

She evolves into Gaō’s steadfast partner and wife, navigating his turbulent life as a bandit leader. When a crippling nasal infection afflicts him, Hayame crafts a healing salve, only for a treacherous bandit to falsely brand it poison. Consumed by suspicion, Gaō strikes her down. With her final breath, she proclaims unwavering devotion, her body dissolving into the ladybug he once saved—exposing her true essence as its reborn spirit.

This tragedy ignites Gaō’s shattering remorse, driving him to forsake violence and seek solace in spirituality. Her ephemeral existence mirrors karmic balance, anchoring his past mercy to her fleeting humanity. Through her sacrifice, Gaō’s journey shifts from bloodshed to reflection, her influence echoing in his pursuit of redemption and art, a silent testament to bonds transcending life and form.
