Description
Erica Fontaine, a French novitiate nun and founding member of the Paris Combat Revue's Fleur Division, was born August 15, 1909. Standing 156 cm tall, she has brown hair typically in a ponytail, brown eyes, and wears a red Victorian-style dress adorned with yellow crosses on the shoulders, paired with brown boots. Her stage persona at Le Chattes Noires features a skintight black cat costume with pink accents, cat ears, and a tail.

Orphaned young when her adoptive parents died in a car accident, Erica unleashed latent spiritual powers accidentally during the crash, injuring bystanders. This fueled societal fear and ostracization, spawning rumors labeling her the "Angel of Montmartre." Seeking refuge, Father Leno took her in at a church. Despite her genuine desire to help others, extreme clumsiness causes frequent unintended destruction, like damaging religious statues or ruining meals, straining her convent life.

Her personality blends unwavering optimism, kindness, and an oblivious streak—she might fall asleep during crises or fixate on small joys like sweets, especially pudding. She harbors a fascination with Japanese culture, often marked by misunderstandings. Beneath her cheerful exterior lies a Stepford Smiler complex, masking deep-seated insecurity about her perceived inadequacies.

In combat, she pilots a red mecha and wields dual cross-shaped machine guns named "Raphael" and "Gabriel," specializing in marksmanship and healing spiritual powers. During battle, her usual clumsiness vanishes, replaced by focused, divine-like competence, highlighting hidden resilience. These powers fully awaken in *Sakura Taisen: École de Paris* after overhearing Father Leno request her removal from the convent due to disruptions. Heartbroken and believing herself unwanted, she flees only to return during an attack on Le Chattes Noires; her determination to protect friends unlocks her abilities.

Her relationships define much growth. She persistently sees good in others, notably softening master thief Lobelia Carlini despite rejections. She develops romantic feelings for Ichiro Ogami, the Fleur Division's captain, with potential reciprocity depending on player choices in games like *Sakura Wars 3: Is Paris Burning?*. In *Le Nouveau Paris*, she is temporarily appointed captain after Ogami's departure but resigns upon realizing the role involves catering to teammates' whims rather than leading, acknowledging the unit functions best without hierarchical command.

She appears across media in spin-offs like *Project X Zone* (paired with Gemini Sunrise or Ogami), *Granblue Fantasy*, and *Star Ocean: Anamnesis*. Her floral namesake derives from the heather plant ("Erica").
