Description
Coquelicot, a Vietnamese orphan who arrived in Paris under unclear circumstances without memory of her arrival, lives and works at the Cirque de Europe. Under the stage name "Magical Angel Coquelicot," she serves as both an animal trainer and magician, nursing injured circus animals like tigers back to health and performing magic acts. Despite enduring mistreatment from the abusive ringmaster Donikuuru—who provides meager meals and threatens to sell the animals she protects—she remains for shelter and her deep affection for the creatures. Her past fuels abandonment issues and a fear of being left alone.

Exhibiting maturity beyond her years, Coquelicot maintains a cheerful exterior while internalizing struggles, avoiding burdening others and confiding only in deeply trusted individuals. Animals anchor her character; she communicates with them effectively, disciplining them firmly to prevent harm. Childhood innocence persists in lighthearted moments, like comparing a teammate's build to a gorilla. Her initial appearance briefly misleads others into mistaking her for a boy due to a hat hiding her pigtails and her use of male pronouns.

Her spiritual powers awaken after a traumatic betrayal by Karuchera, a performer posing as a maternal figure who reveals herself as the antagonist Great Python. This triggers Coquelicot's latent abilities, leading Grand Mere to recruit her into the Paris Combat Revue's Fleur Division. She balances circus duties with evening performances at the cabaret Les Chattes Noires and assisting at a vegetable market. In battle, she wields a magical baton and horn missile launchers.

Coquelicot forms a close bond with Ichiro Ogami, the Paris Combat Revue's commander. When Ogami is ordered to return to Japan post-mission, she confesses her love, declares her intent to marry him, and gives him a farewell letter reiterating this vow. Appointed deputy commander of the Paris Combat Revue, she embraces the role to avoid succumbing to sadness. Later, she travels to Tokyo to reunite with Ogami, delivering a letter from Grand Mere and reaffirming her marriage plans to him and the Imperial Combat Revue. In Japan, she experiences cultural differences, improves her cooking, and performs on the Imperial Theatre stage with Ogami's permission.

After a major conflict resolves, Ogami returns to Paris with Coquelicot and the Paris Combat Revue. They resume life in Paris, where she continues circus and cabaret responsibilities. She ensures Ogami wakes early to help feed circus animals and prepares breakfast for them both.

In the OVA "Sakura Taisen: Le Nouveau Paris," set after Ogami's departure from Paris, Coquelicot participates in the Paris Combat Revue's efforts to confront a new threat. Specific details about her actions or development in this storyline are not provided in the available material.
