Description
The Dinguil Boy hails from the war-focused Denguil Empire. He is the youngest son of Emperor Lugal and the younger brother of General Lugarl De Zahl. During the catastrophic flooding of the Denguil homeworld by Aquarius, he was abandoned. The crew of the space battleship Yamato discovered survivors and launched a rescue. A massive wave destroyed their shuttle, leaving the Dinguil Boy as the sole Denguil survivor, brought aboard the Yamato.

Initially shy and nervous around strangers, he gradually built trust, particularly with Yuki Mori and Susumu Kodai. He showed curiosity about human ways, trying on a fighter pilot helmet and sampling food from Dr. Sado's plate. Unlike his militaristic and cruel culture, he is a pacifist. He expressed shame over his father's abandonment and the empire's values, stating his unhappiness with its path.

His development centered on questioning human nature, especially their willingness to sacrifice themselves for others. Witnessing Earth destroyer crews intercept missiles to protect the Yamato at Pluto, he asked Yuki Mori why humans die for each other. Her reply about it bringing happiness led him to contrast this with Denguil philosophy, which prioritized self-interest. This solidified his choice to ally with the Yamato crew, citing their kindness, medical care, and acceptance despite his origins.

His loyalty culminated in aiding the Yamato's mission to stop Aquarius. He guided Susumu Kodai through the correct route to the control room aboard the Denguil city-satellite Uruku. Confronting Emperor Lugal, he tried to dissuade him from further violence. When Lugal aimed a weapon at Kodai, the Dinguil Boy intervened, shielding Kodai and suffering a fatal shot. In his final moments, he smiled for the first time, expressing pride in helping save Earth and earning remembrance there before dying in Kodai's arms. His body remained on Uruku as it collapsed.

Emperor Lugal's later defeat by Dessler, resulting in the destruction of the Denguil fleet, served as indirect vengeance for the Dinguil Boy's death. Speculation exists that he and others who aided Earth received memorial ceremonies honoring their sacrifices. Physically, he possesses gray skin, though medical examination confirmed his biological similarity to humans in all other respects.
