Princesinha, also called Kushinada-hime, is the daughter of an Izumo Province family. Her family has already lost seven daughters, each sacrificed to the eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi, and she is designated as the next intended sacrifice.
She is a physically beautiful young girl. Her appearance notably resembles the deceased mother of the protagonist Susanoo, a resemblance that profoundly influences his protective feelings towards her and becomes a key factor motivating his decision to confront Orochi.
Kind and compassionate, Princesinha befriends Susanoo upon their meeting. Despite her vulnerable position as Orochi's intended victim, she exhibits bravery and resolve, exemplified by her defiant declaration to the serpent: "I will never yield to you, even if it costs me my life!"
Within the narrative, her imminent sacrifice serves as the direct catalyst, prompting Susanoo, his rabbit companion Akahana, and the giant TitanbÅ to prepare for and engage in the decisive battle against Orochi. She remains present during the extended confrontation, visibly reacting to the destruction of Orochi's heads.
Princesinha embodies themes of divine femininity and nature's protective power within Japanese cultural context. Symbolically linked to agricultural bounty, reflected in her title "Princess of Nine Provinces" and her name's meaning ("the woman of many fields"), she also fulfills a nurturing role, providing guidance and care to Susanoo throughout his quest.
Information regarding her appearance or development in other official media beyond the 1963 film is not present.
