Description
Yamato Delgado was orphaned at birth and raised by wild cats until around age five. This upbringing imbued him with distinct feline traits: agility, heightened senses, the ability to land on all fours, and whisker-like facial features. Adopted by café owner Mie Delgado, he initially believed himself a cat, retaining behaviors like enjoying fish and moving with feline grace.

A prohibition barred him from owning a B-Daman until his birthday, when the legendary Cobalt Blade manifested to him, emerging from the walls of his mother's café. This event launched his journey as a B-DaPlayer. Cobalt Blade was reputed as one of the most powerful B-Daman ever created. Yamato possessed a carefree, optimistic personality that often led to impulsiveness, coupled with fierce loyalty to friends. He could become intensely serious when their safety was threatened, typically avoiding discouragement except during extreme hunger or emotional turmoil.

His early development featured a pivotal rivalry with Gray Michael Vincent, who initially sought to claim Cobalt Blade. Their initial battles, including one ending in a draw, evolved into a strong friendship. Gray introduced Yamato to the broader world of competitive B-Daman, including tournaments and allies like Bull Borgnine. Yamato battled through the IBA Winners Tournament qualifiers, defeating opponents like Castieo using his "Cobalt Power Blast" strike shot. During the tournament, he freed Bull from the Shadow Alliance's mind control and formed a rivalry with Enjyu.

Key story arcs involved confronting the Shadow Alliance, rescuing Gray's sister Liena from their influence, and undertaking the Five Field Challenges to fund his tournament journey. These challenges required battles across specialized stages such as the Leon Stage and Sword Stage, culminating in victory over Cain McDonnell after regaining confidence through his friends' support. A significant emotional setback occurred when Cain, once admired by Yamato, betrayed him and destroyed Cobalt Blade. This triggered profound depression until Armada rebuilt the B-Daman into Cobalt Saber using the original weapon's remnants. This upgrade incorporated the Blaster Core system for enhanced customization.

Yamato later competed in the championship finals against Enjyu, who wielded the stolen Blazing Kahn. After learning Enjyu's tragic past and enduring a grueling 40-round match, Yamato emerged victorious using techniques learned from allies, securing the title of IBA World Champion. Post-championship, he returned Gray and Liena to their ruined hometown and faced over 100 challengers in his own hometown, Cowtune, defeating them all.

In subsequent adventures, he sought Strike Shot B-DaBalls originating from shooting stars, obtaining the "Drive Shot" for Cobalt Saber Fire (later upgraded to Cobalt Blaster Drive Cannon). He allied with new recruits like Gunnos while confronting resurgent threats to the B-DaWorld. Throughout his journey, Yamato maintained a distinctive appearance: auburn hair, blue eyes, green goggles, a yellow ascot, and a sleeveless jacket with dual belts and boots. His persistence, belief in others, and ability to inspire change in adversaries like Enjyu and Cain remained defining traits.
