Description
Yamato Daiwa (known as Yamato Delgado in some regions) is the central protagonist of the Battle B-Daman narrative. Raised by wild cats until approximately age five, he retains distinct feline traits including heightened agility, the ability to run and land on all fours, an enhanced sense of smell, subtle whiskers, and occasional cat-like facial expressions, especially in comedic moments.

Around age five, he was adopted by Mie Delgado, his foster mother and guardian. Mie initially forbade him from owning a B-Daman but later supported his involvement after the legendary B-Daman, Cobalt Blade, chose Yamato due to his unique skills, marking the start of his journey as a B-DaPlayer.

Physically, Yamato has auburn hair, blue eyes, stands 140 cm tall, and weighs 38.6 kg. His signature Western-style attire includes white pants, a sleeveless jacket, green goggles, a yellow ascot, two belts (one for carrying his B-Daman), and matching long boots. A scar is visible on his left eye, its origin unexplained. His B-DaBalls are reddish-orange, matching his hair.

Personality-wise, Yamato embodies a carefree, optimistic, and energetic spirit, often approaching life playfully. He is generous and quick to forgive, traits that sometimes make him appear naïve, but he becomes intensely serious and protective when friends are endangered. His feline upbringing enhances his agility and reflexes, directly benefiting his B-Daman skills.

His primary B-Daman, Cobalt Blade, was severely damaged early on by antagonist Cain McDonnell. Rebuilt into Cobalt Saber, it became the first B-Daman utilizing the Blaster Core (or Delta Core) system, allowing internal modifications and granting access to his signature special attack, the Cobalt Power Blast, which harnesses battlefield friction.

In the second season (Fire Spirits!), his B-Daman underwent successive upgrades: first to Cobalt Saber Fire using the Drive Shot Strike Shot; then to Cobalt Blaster with a Cartridge system and Stealth Drive Shot; and finally transforming into Cobalt Blaster Drive Cannon equipped with an R.C. system and Legend Drive Shot for the final battles. In the manga continuity, his initial B-Daman was Cobalt Sword, later upgraded directly to Cobalt Blade.

Throughout his journey, Yamato forged significant bonds with allies like Gray Michael Vincent, Bull Borgnine, and Terry McScotty, often acting as the group's unifying force. He participated in B-Daman tournaments while combating threats such as the Shadow Alliance and later confronting a greater evil in Fire Spirits!.
