Grand Convoy, known as Optimus Prime in Western adaptations, serves as the supreme Autobot commander within the Transformers: Energon narrative. His leadership began after a period of peace following the Transformers: Armada conflict, during which he trained an elite squadron in Kumite. The resurgence of war forced his return as a primary military strategist. Experiences in the prior war for Mini-Cons and his confrontation with Unicron fundamentally changed him. He transitioned from an approachable leader to a stern, mission-focused commander, rarely letting emotion influence tactical decisions. His strategies became direct and aggressive, driven by unwavering dedication to defeating Megatron and Unicron. Despite this perceived harshness, his actions consistently demonstrated commitment to the greater good, including significant personal sacrifices. A key evolution came when Primus bestowed the Spark of Combination. This replaced his previous trailer combination ability, allowing integration with four vehicular drones housed within his trailer, designated the Prime Force or Grand Force: Fire One (fire engine), Copter Two (helicopter), Digger Three (drilling vehicle), and Submarine Four (submersible). These drones could individually form any limb, creating his enhanced Super Mode. Later developments expanded his combinatory power. The revival of Wing Dagger as Wing Saber enabled two Powerlinx configurations: a frequently used Flight Mode prioritizing speed and a less common Fight Mode emphasizing firepower. His most formidable form emerged after awakening the ancient guardian Omega Supreme. Using the Spark of Combination, he merged with Omega Supreme to become Optimus Supreme, gaining the power needed to confront Unicron on a planetary scale. Enhanced by Primus, this combined entity grew to match Unicron’s size for decisive battles. This power was later used to halt Cybertron's Decepticon-induced movement and again during the final conflict against Galvatron, merging with the collective Sparks of the Autobots. His involvement spanned critical phases of the conflict. He opposed Megatron’s raids on Earth’s Energon Grid, formed a tense alliance with Alpha Q to restore worlds devoured by Unicron, navigated a strategic rift with Rodimus over the ethical use of Unicron, and pursued Megatron through a spatial rift into Alpha Q’s recreated planetary region. There, he coordinated nascent world defenses using Energon Towers while confronting threats like Shockblast and the reborn Sixshot. The climax involved confronting Galvatron, empowered by Super Energon and influenced by Unicron’s consciousness. Optimus Supreme's final battle against this enhanced Galvatron culminated in extracting and destroying Unicron’s essence. An alternate continuity presents a divergent path. Classified records identify him as a member of the secretive Convoy Corps, later serving as a combat instructor. His history prior to joining the Corps remained undisclosed. His involvement ended during Cycle 9092 while unofficially training an experimental creation named Ariel at Omnihelix Academy. An uncontrolled release of her sonic-based "outlier" power destroyed the academy, resulting in his death. The Secret Order concealed the incident, attributing his demise to natural causes and erasing his name from official records. His legacy within the primary Energon narrative is defined by strategic resolve, evolving combinatory power, and pivotal actions safeguarding Cybertron and the universe from annihilation, reflecting the Autobot ideal of sacrifice for the greater good.
