Description
Naoki Kuzumi lives with the lingering shadow of a tragedy five years past – an accident that claimed his parents' lives and fractured his own memories. With no blood relatives to turn to, he found a home with his aunt, uncle, and cousin, Matsuri Shibugaki. He now calls Matsuri's father "Oyaji" (Dad) and her mother "Eri-san," reflecting the deep, familial closeness forged within the Shibugaki household.
His days follow a familiar pattern: each morning, childhood friend Honami Fujieda arrives to wake him, a habit she persists in despite regularly chiding him that he's no longer a child. Together, they navigate their second year at Hasumidai Academy, where Naoki strives for normalcy. He participates in the astronomy club, supporting his friend Koji Hirose's efforts to revitalize it.
This ordinary existence shatters when Mikoto Amagasaki plummets onto the school rooftop where Naoki naps. Dismissing it initially as a bizarre daydream, Naoki soon learns Mikoto hails from 100 years into the future. Mistaking him for her missing brother, Yusuke Amagasaki, due to their uncanny resemblance, her arrival thrusts science fiction into his reality.
Naoki's connections expand to include others tied to this future timeline: his homeroom teacher, Yui Nonohara, and the school nurse, Kyouko Nishina, both temporal refugees. His world also involves Matsuri's best friend, Chihiro Tachibana, and class representative Fumio Akiyama. Through these relationships, Naoki uncovers that his present era functions as a sanctuary for future inhabitants afflicted by an incurable disease, explaining Mikoto's presence and the arrivals of figures like school director Rei Usami.
The narrative follows Naoki as he adapts to extraordinary circumstances while grappling with the voids in his own past. His forgotten history may be intrinsically linked to the temporal disruptions unfolding around him. Later developments, including OVA episodes shifting to Mikoto's perspective, underscore his growing role in resolving conflicts stemming from time travel and familial separation, particularly Mikoto's quest for her brother and the overarching sanctuary mission.
