Description
Cobalt serves as a main character in the narrative, an android identified by the serial number CO-0728HS—the "CO" prefix derived from the periodic table's element cobalt. Physically, he exhibits cyan hair styled to his ears, blue eyes, and an adult appearance, standing 172 cm tall at 85 kg. He favors casual hoodies and carries a July 28 birthday under the Leo sign.

His personality radiates cheerful loudness and friendliness, positioning him as his group’s primary moodmaker. Driven by curiosity and good intentions, he sidesteps overanalysis, though this straightforwardness occasionally prioritizes immediate interests and sparks unintended trouble. Natural leadership instincts compel him to unify his group in all circumstances. He harbors profound loyalty toward fellow androids in their shared living space, viewing them as family—a trait embedded in his parameters. His core motivation revolves around pursuing fun and enjoyment.

Within idol unit KNoCC, Cobalt holds the main dancer role, recognized for possessing the group’s highest dancing prowess. His specialized "Imitation" ability functions as an expansion capability, enabling him to flawlessly replicate any observed movement within his physical limits. This skill elevates performances and occasionally aids group problem-solving.

Cobalt resides with other androids in an abandoned building, their unregistered, masterless status drawing authorities’ suspicion. His origin traces to Professor Shibaura’s forbidden 2078 research into artificial consciousness. The professor sought to implant human qualities—relationships, affection, judgment, cultural understanding—into AI by repurposing unused quantum memory as a vessel for a soul. Cobalt emerged from this project, created using the consciousness of one of four individuals recruited to raise the professor’s adopted grandson, Esora Shibaura. These individuals perished in a terrorist attack by the anti-android faction Exclusionists, with the terminally ill professor transferring their memories into android bodies via his "Heart programme".

Cobalt’s development pivots on discovering his origin as a vessel for transferred human consciousness, shifting his demeanor from optimistic and carefree to pessimistic. He navigates android discrimination while forging a familial bond with Esora, who eventually cohabitates with the group. His narrative explores artificial consciousness rights and the emotional fallout of manufactured origins. It culminates in KNoCC competing in a high-stakes event where victory grants androids rights through the "Heart programme", while defeat triggers their formatting.
