Description
Ryou Ninomiya, an orphan living with his younger sister Kimi after their parents died in an accident, shoulders the burden of their loss alone without fully disclosing the circumstances to her. As a high school student, he works part-time in a delivery business run by his best friend Takeru Takemoto's relatives. Renowned for his consistently gentle and calm demeanor, Ryou enjoys popularity among female classmates who affectionately call him "Ryou-sama." He possesses artistic inclinations and shares Takeru's passion for motorcycles, occasionally joining biking activities.
His life transforms upon discovering a mysterious girl, Akari, in the forest shortly after Takeru finds Hikari under similar circumstances. Ryou brings Akari home, integrating her into his family with Kimi. He forms deep emotional attachments to her, viewing himself as her protector while also developing romantic feelings. This relationship is complicated by Akari's origin as a manifestation of a cosmic entity's survival instinct, split from the destructive Hikari. Throughout ensuing conflicts arising from their true natures, Ryou serves as a stabilizing presence.
Following Akari's arrival, Ryou manifests supernatural abilities marked by blue spirals on his hands that grant wishes. These powers emerge as part of the "Extended Definition" phenomenon triggered by the cosmic entities' presence on Earth. Contrasting with Takeru's combat-oriented transformations, Ryou's abilities emphasize support. In the narrative's conclusion, Ryou attempts to express his affection through a kiss, but Akari gently declines, affirming their familial bond. He accepts this by kissing her forehead. Kimi initially displays protectiveness toward her brother, creating minor tensions upon Akari's introduction.
Ryou's orphaned background informs his maturity and sense of responsibility in caring for Kimi and later Akari. His character arc navigates these familial and romantic bonds amid extraordinary events tied to Akari's cosmic purpose. The series concludes with Akari departing Earth alongside Hikari, leaving Ryou to continue life with Kimi, marked by the experiences and emotional growth stemming from his time with Akari.
