Description
Ryu Aikawa is the grandson of Dr. Takeshi Aikawa, a prominent archaeologist focused on ancient Indian artifacts and legends. Initially depicted as sexually inexperienced, Ryu adhered to a vow of chastity at his grandfather’s instruction, motivated by the promise of meeting "the most beautiful woman in the world" if he preserved his virginity. This vow influenced his early reluctance toward intimacy.
When Dr. Aikawa revives the cryogenically preserved Princess Surya using an artifact called the holy grail or "sex cup," Ryu becomes captivated by her. Shakty, his grandfather’s assistant, trains Ryu in Kama Sutra techniques, deeming his inexperience unfit for a relationship with an immortal princess. Ryu resists this training due to his vow and his commitment to his girlfriend, Yukari Tsuji.
Ryu’s bond with Surya intensifies upon learning he is the reincarnation of Gopal, a knight who protected her 1,500 years earlier. This revelation surfaces during clashes with the Naga tribe, led by Prince Rudracin (or Rudra), who seeks to forcibly marry Surya to gain immortality via the holy grail. Rudracin is implied to be the reincarnation of Gopal’s killer, and Ryu’s past-life memories awaken during their battles.
Ryu pursues Rudracin after the prince abducts Surya and Yukari, culminating in a battle within Shambhala—a mythical realm accessed through the grail’s power. There, Ryu and Rudracin duel with imagined weapons. Ryu triumphs by impaling Rudracin, triggering the prince’s monstrous transformation and death.
The story concludes as Ryu and Surya engage in a consensual sexual union to fulfill a divine prophecy for humanity’s salvation. This act merges Surya into a cosmic egg ("space egg") carrying their DNA into space to preserve life for a future era. Ryu returns to Earth with companions, witnessing Surya’s departure. His character evolves from naive chastity to embracing a spiritual destiny.
Media adaptations diverge: the manga includes Ryu’s capture by the Mali Clan, where they attempt sexual exhaustion, and omits the reincarnation plot. Prince Rudra dies in the manga after failing a divine test and being pulled into space, while the anime shows Ryu killing him. The cosmic egg attaches to the holy grail on Earth in the manga but floats independently in space in the anime.
