Description
Johnny Winters, localized from Shogo Yahagi, is an 18-year-old motorcycle fanatic living in a simulated 1980s Tokyo and working part-time at McDonald's. His life shatters after acquiring the experimental transforming Garland motorcycle from a friend killed by government agents. Previously uncovering the truth that Tokyo is a simulation aboard the spaceship Megazone 23, Johnny is framed for his friend Tomomi Murashita's murder. Forced into hiding for six months, he joins the anti-military biker gang "Trash" and reunites with his girlfriend, Sue (Yui Takanaka), adopting a hardened, rebellious persona.
Designated "Operator 7G" by Eve, the AI managing Megazone 23, Johnny receives her covert messages seeking help. After stealing another Garland, he learns from Eve that the Megazone is returning to Earth, only to face destruction by the planetary A.D.A.M. defense system. Johnny leads Trash against military forces commanded by B.D. and confronts the alien Dezalg threat. Recognizing Johnny's importance, B.D. cedes control to him. As A.D.A.M. destroys the Megazone, Eve jettisons Johnny, Sue, and Trash survivors in the Bahamut tower to a revitalized Earth, marking a new beginning.
