Description
Gon is a young boy dwelling in the prehistoric Giatrus Plains alongside his family, members of an early human tribe reliant on hunting mammoths for sustenance. His father hunts, while his mother tends to infants carried on her back. Gon's constant companion is a gorilla named Dotechin; though Dotechin communicates only through grunts, Gon and others understand him perfectly. Gon possesses a timid nature but an exceptionally resilient, stone-hard head that proves useful in difficult moments. He aspires to become a capable hunter, yet his endeavors often lead to playful mischief and comedic escapades instead. Gon shares a special affection with a cave girl named Piko-chan. Later, a figure named Amanojaku, drawn from Japanese folklore and appearing as a small, horned child who aids animals, joins Gon's world. Amanojaku facilitates Gon's encounters with creatures from Japanese myths, like tengu and a petrifying witch. Across adaptations, Gon's core traits—his family bonds, friendship with Dotechin, timid yet determined personality, and comedic tribal interactions—remain enduring foundations.
