TV-Series
Description
Magà serves as the Italian localization name for the protagonist originally named Hutch in the Japanese version. During the Italian dubbing of the first two TV series, the character’s gender was changed from male to female, creating narrative discrepancies in episodes where romantic interactions with a female butterfly from the source material became ambiguously portrayed. Subsequent dubs reinstated the character’s male gender while retaining the name Magà, generating continuity issues.

In the Italian adaptation of the sequel series, Magà’s sister Aya was rebranded as Maya—a name reminiscent of the unrelated series *Maya the Bee*—heightening viewer perplexity. The core storyline remains consistent: an orphaned bee, separated from their queen mother during a wasp attack, navigates hostile ecosystems and forms fleeting alliances with fellow insects to reunite with their colony. While the Italian gender shift preserved the overarching plot, it introduced inconsistencies in relational dynamics and emotional subtext present in the original narrative.

The character’s involvement is documented solely within the context of Italian-dubbed TV series adaptations, with no confirmed appearances in films, OVAs, or spin-offs.
