Description
Guzura catapulted into existence from a large egg propelled to the surface by a volcanic eruption at Mt. Bikkura. This event marks his arrival, technically alien due to the mountain's location on another planet. He resembles a redwood-hued dinosaur or rhinoceros, featuring a nose horn, a small blue cap, a tie, prominent fangs, a large tail, and a black eye, though early manga art sometimes depicted him in blue.
His nature is fundamentally innocent and friendly, often expressing surprise and puzzlement at the human world he encounters. Entirely without malice, he displays childlike honesty, unable to keep secrets or maintain lies. When scared or troubled, he trembles and utters his signature phrase, "Hey, I'm Guzura." He also possesses a voracious appetite, a pronounced fear of syringes, and a tendency toward excessive sleep.
Guzura devours metal, transforming it into mechanical devices. He can spit fire from his mouth and execute high jumps by using his powerful tail as a spring.
Key relationships define his life. Siblings Bonta and Susuko Nuketa befriend him after he appears near their home. Despite often unintentionally worsening their situations through misguided help, their bond endures. His friendship with Susuko is particularly close, with both featuring prominently together in the manga. A quest to find biological family leads him to Chalala, a female dinosaur/rhinoceros, on a remote island. He brings her back to the Nuketa household. Their relationship begins with friction, Chalala frequently scolding his laziness and clumsiness, but evolves into deep mutual affection. An episode explicitly depicts their future marriage and the birth of their twelve sons.
Beyond the main series, he appears in the crossover movie "Pandora and Akubi," identified as the "Mysterious monster." His core traits of naivety, curiosity, and the tension between his otherworldly origin and adopted human family remain consistent across all media, including manga re-releases and anime adaptations across 1967–1968 and 1987–1988.
