Description
Francoise Arnoul, designated Cyborg 003, began as a French ballet dancer before the Black Ghost organization kidnapped her. In certain accounts, operatives lured her with a false dance opportunity; in others, they forcibly abducted her despite her brother Jean's intervention.

Subjected to extensive cybernetic modifications, her enhancements centered on sensory capabilities: superhuman visual acuity for vast distances, infrared/ultraviolet perception, and X-ray vision through solid obstructions, paired with auditory systems detecting imperceptible sounds across wide ranges. Later narratives like "Conclusion: GOD'S WAR" revealed latent psychic powers—telepathy, precognition, and clairvoyance—unlocked by Cyborg 001. Subsequent continuities such as "RE: Cyborg" and "Call of Justice" added technopathic abilities for computer interfacing, electronic jamming, and refined marksmanship leveraging her cybernetic vision.

Within the 00 Cyborg team, she specialized in reconnaissance, communication, and tactical support, coordinating operations under Dr. Gilmore’s guidance. Her senses detected threats and tracked enemies, while she often safeguarded the infant Cyborg 001. Early portrayals emphasized support roles, but later adaptations showcased her evolution into a proactive field operative, mastering electrical engineering, bomb disposal, motorcycle handling, and Judo for self-defense—solidifying her role as the team’s tactical "eyes and ears."

Her personal arc featured an emotional bond with Joe Shimamura (Cyborg 009), with romantic implications across media. Her compassion extended to teammates and Black Ghost’s victims, often manifesting as distress over suffering. She grappled with the violation of her bodily autonomy through cyberization and unresolved uncertainty about her family, particularly Jean’s fate.

Due to cryogenic suspension post-cyberization until enhancements stabilized, she is chronologically decades older than her youthful appearance suggests, having been captured at roughly age 19. Her name honors a French actress admired by creator Shotaro Ishinomori.
