Description
Helen, one of the five princesses of the Yomi Kingdom, appears in the final story arc of the 2001 anime series *Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier*, formally debuting in episode 44 after a cliffhanger in the preceding episode. She displays short, spiked orange-red hair and solid deep blue eyes, wearing a tiara with a central red gem to differentiate her from her sisters. Her primary outfit is a sleeveless seafoam green dress featuring white shoulder and neck ribbing with oversized buttons, reversing her original manga jumpsuit depiction.

Initially gentle, shy, and insecure due to memory gaps from a mind-wipe, Helen arrives in the surface world as a spy for Yomi. Her memories gradually return after her younger sister Vena reveals her true identity, leading her to develop a close bond with Joe Shimamura (Cyborg 009). This proximity inadvertently causes tension with Francoise Arnoul (Cyborg 003), who grows jealous.

Helen possesses a latent telepathic ability to sense her sisters' thoughts and emotions, suppressed by her mind-wipe. Upon fully regaining her memories, she reactivates this power to uncover critical information like Cyborg 004's location. Her narrative includes interactions with sisters Biina and Venus, the latter defecting from Black Ghost to aid the cyborgs. Venus shares a psychic link with Helen, sensing her emotions toward Joe.

As the eldest sister, Helen's status is misattributed to Vena in some international dubs due to translation errors. The original Japanese version employs one voice actress for all sisters to stress their identicalness, while foreign dubs use separate actresses to accentuate distinct personalities.

Helen is occasionally conflated with Helena—a separate character from the "Mythos Cyborgs" arc—owing to similar names and mythological roots, though they exist across different storylines. Early concepts for the 2001 anime considered Helena but adapted an unused design named Artemis instead.

Her arc culminates in sacrifice: fatally shot by Van Vogt, Helen channels her remaining strength to aid Joe in battle, openly confessing her feelings while dying. This journey explores themes of identity, loyalty, and redemption, cementing her pivotal role against Yomi Kingdom's forces.
