Description
Cyborg 006, codenamed Chang Changku, began as a Chinese pig farmer driven to suicidal despair by famine and crushing taxes after his livestock perished. His hanging attempt was thwarted when Black Ghost agents shot the noose mid-air, capturing him. An alternate timeline reimagined him as a restaurateur whose fire-breathing act accidentally torched his business, prompting his collapse and subsequent abduction.

Reborn as a cyborg, Chang retained his cheerful demeanor and culinary passion, frequently rallying comrades with meals. His gastronomic talents persisted post-missions, culminating in a Tokyo-based Chinese restaurant. A signature gag across adaptations shows him unintentionally setting teammates—notably Cyborgs 007 and 008—ablaze. This comedic trope recurs in the 1968 and 1979 series, the 2001 anime episodes *The Escape* and *Tears of Steel*, their manga counterparts, and the crossover *Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman*.

During *Conclusion: GOD'S WAR*, 001 awakened Chang’s dormant psychic abilities, though their full scope remains undefined. Spin-offs like *Cyborg 009 x Kamen Rider* expanded his arsenal with electricity manipulation and intensified pyrokinesis via Kamen Rider Stronger’s tech. These upgrades amplified his combat lethality but disrupted his precision in controlling culinary flames.
