Description
Megumi Oka, the 18th heir of the Kōga-ryū ninja lineage, is the daughter of General Oka, a key Earth defense figure. Born May 17th, she endured rigorous ninja training under her father from childhood, mastering extraordinary skills and lightning-fast reflexes by age 13. Her mother taught her gentle arts, fostering a calm yet alert disposition. This dual upbringing forged her pacifistic nature, leaving her repulsed by killing, even against Boazanian soldiers.
As the Voltes Team's sole female member, Megumi pilots the Volt Lander, forming Voltes V's legs. She wears a yellow and white uniform with pink accents and a prominent chest "V", paired with thigh-high yellow boots. In civilian clothes, she favors a long-sleeved yellow collared top, a red mini skirt, and matching red boots. Her distinctive long teal hair is tied with a pink bow, framing amber eyes. For missions, she occasionally dons a dark blue ninja outfit.
Megumi acts as the team's voice of reason, frequently mediating conflicts between Kenichi Goh and Ippei Mine. Her calmness shows early when she remains composed during team arguments. Her pacifism and empathy, reflecting her mother's influence, extend to all beings. Despite a fear of crabs, she exhibits no hesitation confronting crab-like Beast Fighters.
Her team relationships are multifaceted. She confronts Ippei about his callous behavior after Mitsuyo Goh's death, prompting him to reveal his mother's abandonment. Later, when Ippei discovers her placing flowers on her father's grave, he silently vows to protect her, hinting at deeper feelings. With Hiyoshi Goh, she shares a sibling-like bond; he affectionately calls her "nee-san" (big sister), though he playfully accuses her of cheating when she uses ninja skills to catch fish.
Significant loss marks Megumi's background. Her father, General Oka, died during the Boazanian invasion, a trauma resurfacing when she mourns at his grave. Her Kōga-ryū heritage proves practical: she employs techniques to gather resources like fish during survival scenarios and crafts items, including sweaters for her father. She also excels in knitting and sewing.
Key moments define her development. In one episode, she investigates Ippei's disrespect toward the grieving Goh brothers, disarming him and compelling him to confess his traumatic past. Later, her emotional vulnerability surfaces when Ippei follows her to her father's grave, witnessing her tears. Her loyalty remains steadfast; she physically intervenes in Kenichi and Ippei's fights and supports them discovering their half-Boazanian heritage.
Her hobbies include flower-picking and knitting, often intertwined with emotional expression, like crafting a sweater for her deceased father. Throughout the series, she maintains her role as the team's emotional anchor, balancing pacifism with unwavering resolve in Earth's defense.
