TV-Series
Description
Dr. Armstrong, born Prince La Gour of Boazan, possessed royal Boazanian blood yet lacked horns, a critical abnormality in a society where the hornless faced brutal discrimination and enslavement. He concealed his condition with prosthetic horns until his cousin Zu Zambajil exposed him. Branded a traitor, stripped of his titles, and imprisoned, he escaped captivity, fled Boazan, and crash-landed on Earth. There, he adopted the identity of Dr. Ned Armstrong (also known as Kentaro Goh or Baron Hrothgar).
Integrating into human society, he married scientist Mary Ann Collins and fathered three sons: Steve, Robert ("Big Bert"), and Jon ("Little John"). Channeling advanced knowledge, he designed Earth's defensive robot Voltes V and the hidden base Camp Big Falcon (sometimes called Big Falcon Island), which also functioned as a spaceship. After Jon's birth, compelled by duty to liberate Boazan's oppressed hornless, he left his family to confront Zambajil's tyranny.
Returning to Boazan led to his recapture by Zambajil's forces. Enslaved, he endured imprisonment clad in a green slave outfit, his appearance disheveled with a full beard. Despite this, he persisted in resistance, ultimately leading a hornless rebel faction. Allies, including the hornless General Dange, eventually freed him. Collaborating, they constructed the Solar Bird spaceship to return and overthrow the caste system.
Across these struggles, his resilience, strategic foresight, and dedication to justice remained constant, prioritizing the protection of both Earth and Boazan at significant personal cost. Following the Boazanian empire's defeat and the caste system's dismantling, he reclaimed his birth name Gohl, ascended as Emperor, and adopted white royal garbs. His leadership focused on establishing peace, equality, and fulfilling his liberation goal.
Official media expansions, like the live-action *Voltes V: Legacy*, maintain his background: escape to Earth, family life, and return to Boazan. His appearance varies: short black hair and modern Earth clothing; later, shoulder-length brown or bluish-gray hair in Boazanian civilian or rebellion attire; finally, gray hair and royal robes as emperor. He serves as a unifying figure, his half-human sons embodying his commitment to justice and bridging societies.
Physically tall with bluish-gray or brown hair and black eyes, his look evolved from clean-shaven to bearded during enslavement, then back to a dignified emperor. His arc concluded with him as a ruler dedicated to peace, having navigated betrayal, loss, and redemption across worlds.
