TV-Series
Description
Gennarisai Karasu, known as Jerry Atric in English adaptations, serves as the elderly crow leader of the Ninja Crows and primary advisor to Seymour Cheese, the Big Cheese. His role provides a counterbalance to Cheese's impulsive decisions through reasoned counsel.
Fifteen years before the main events, Karasu lay severely ill and bedridden under his clan's care. During his convalescence, Seymour Cheese stumbled into the crows' dwelling while searching for food. Cheese accidentally tripped and fell onto Karasu, resulting in an unintended kiss. This act unexpectedly revitalized Karasu, curing his ailment. In gratitude for this unintentional life-saving act, Karasu and the entire Ninja Crow clan pledged unwavering loyalty to Cheese. This event solidified their dynamic, with Karasu remaining devoted despite occasional discomfort over Cheese's flirtatious behavior, which he sometimes ambiguously reciprocates.
Physically, Karasu appears as an elderly crow anthropomorph, standing 144 cm tall and weighing 44 kg. He sports a white mustache and beard adorning his beak. He typically wears red and black armor and a white helmet designed to resemble human hair, often topped with a black Tokin – headgear linked to Japanese Tengu mythology and crow-like yōkai lore. This helmet can be dislodged during events, revealing his bald head.
Within the Ninja Crows hierarchy, Karasu maintains direct leadership, though the clan now operates under Cheese's overarching authority due to the life-debt. His primary subordinate, Bad Bird, initially served as his right-hand operative but ultimately defected to join the Pizza Cats by the series' conclusion. Karasu also oversees the elite Rude Noise squad, though direct interaction with this group appears minimal. His relationship with Cheese extends beyond formal loyalty into personal territory, occasionally featuring homoerotic undertones reflected in Karasu's use of the pet name "Cheesy" (Kon-chan in Japanese).
His core narrative consistently centers on advising Cheese and managing the Ninja Crows. A forthcoming video game, *Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past!*, confirms his continued role, with Naoki Tatsuta reprising the Japanese voice role.
The English name "Jerry Atric" is a play on "geriatric," referencing his elderly status. Early promotional materials occasionally used the spelling "Atrick," though "Atric" later became standardized through official DVD releases.
