Description
Artfire leads the Spychangers, an Autobot espionage unit within the Japanese Transformers: Car Robots continuity (known internationally as Transformers: Robots in Disguise). He maintains a stern, duty-focused, and often gruff command presence, yet prioritizes his teammates' safety above mission goals or personal risk. His alternate mode is a Porsche 959 sports car, used for reconnaissance and high-speed pursuits. Artfire wields offensive pyrokinetic abilities, strategically generating and manipulating fire in combat against Predacons and Decepticons, such as diverting threatening lava flows or assaulting foes.
His leadership faced challenges during critical missions. He coordinated the Spychangers to intercept Predacons stealing a Plutonium Energy Generator on a beach. He later oversaw protection of a valuable ruby, positioning Mirage as a sniper; Mirage's hesitation caused the plan to fail, leading to temporary distrust and Mirage's apparent defection. Artfire ultimately accepted Mirage's explanation of covert operations against Sky-Byte.
After an upgrade via Spark Engines, Artfire gained a "Super Mode." This enhanced form provides greater control over blue, high-temperature flames and amplifies his leadership presence. He utilized this power against new threats like Chainsaw and his Mutants, thwarting Meathook on Mount Kilimanjaro and orchestrating the Super Spychangers' coordinated defense during a Mutant assault on the Autobot base. Though the Go-Brillium power source depleted, his physical form retained its new coloration.
Artfire participated in larger-scale operations, battling Scourge and the Combatrons aboard the Neo Brave Maximus to damage their warship. He also joined Optimus Prime and the Build Team defending Earth against Galvatron's forces at the planet's core.
