Description
Benares is the immortal Wu companion to the demon god Kaiyanwang, also known as Shiva. He originated as Ryuushin, an immensely powerful dragon deity who gained heightened intelligence by consuming Sanjiyan Unkara beings in their sacred homeland, the Seichi. This transformation enabled him to assume humanoid form. Centuries before the main events, the sorcerer Madourai sealed Benares beneath the earth until Kaiyanwang II discovered and freed him, binding him as an eternal Wu through a mystical ritual.

After Parvati sealed Kaiyanwang 300 years prior to the primary timeline, Benares assumed command of his master's demonic followers. He spent the intervening centuries orchestrating Kaiyanwang's resurrection, leveraging formidable political influence within the demon world. His strategies included manipulating the water demon Yoko Ayanokōji by using her preserved lover Haan's corpse to force her cooperation. Benares possessed virtually unmatched physical and magical capabilities, amplified by his Wu transformation into a near-unstoppable force. He regarded Parvati's Wu, Yakumo Fujii, as his primary adversary despite Yakumo's lesser power.

During the apocalyptic conflict following Kaiyanwang's return, Benares engaged Yakumo in a decisive battle. He inflicted mortal wounds upon the human-weakened Yakumo and left him for dead. However, Pai and Parvati thwarted Benares' efforts by merging their powers in the Sanhara ritual, reclaiming their abilities from Kaiyanwang and reviving Yakumo. In the aftermath, Benares demonstrated unwavering loyalty by merging with Kali—a Parvati clone—during the Sanhara phenomenon. This act enabled both him and the weakened Kaiyanwang to escape annihilation, ensuring their survival beyond the conflict.

Benares exemplifies persistent devotion to his master, strategic manipulation of allies and enemies, and survival through adaptation, as shown in his merging with Kali to endure past the series' conclusion.
