Description
Ensign Nogami served as an Ohka pilot in the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service during World War II's final days, deeply committed to this duty as his ultimate service to the Empire. On August 5, 1945, his Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" bomber participated in a raid against an American carrier group. Nogami urgently demanded launch far from the target, but the crew refused. American fighters then destroyed the bomber, throwing Nogami clear; he parachuted to safety.

Returning to base, he met the crew assigned for his next mission and two surviving A6M Zero pilots who vowed to protect him. On August 6th, the squadron launched a second raid against the same fleet. Under heavy attack by Grumman F6F Hellcats, a pursuing fighter critically damaged Nogami's Betty. One Zero pilot sacrificed himself by ramming the Hellcat, allowing the bomber to continue. Despite severe damage causing the bomber to disintegrate, Nogami launched in his Ohka at close range.

He navigated intense anti-aircraft fire from escort ships and crashed his Ohka into the superstructure of an Essex-class American aircraft carrier. Nogami survived the initial impact. American personnel recovered a photograph of his girlfriend from the wreckage. Shortly after this attack, the battle group commander learned of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The carrier subsequently exploded and sank.

Historical records note Nogami held pre-war aspirations in rocketry and spaceflight, contrasting with his wartime role as a guided missile pilot destined for a suicide mission.

Following World War II, Nogami reappeared during the fictional USRAC War. Accounts state he returned after the Belkan Grey Men framed him, an act dishonoring his military legacy. Piloting a new advanced fighter jet, he destroyed 235 Grand Alliance aircraft, becoming a flying ace for the New Central Powers faction.
