OVA
Description
Emi Mizuchi operates as a secondary antagonist in the first story arc of both the original manga and its 1991 OVA adaptation. The youngest of the Mizuchi sisters—alongside Remi and Ayumi—she belongs to a criminal syndicate overseen by their father, Gozo. Her motivations stem from intertwined familial loyalty, envy, and an unyielding thirst for validation.

Before the events of the official narrative, Emi collaborates with Remi in a massacre targeting 76 classmates from Takanoha Gakuen High School. They rig school buses with gas tanks, orchestrating fatal crashes to replace students with those from families marked for exploitation. Emi’s personal conflict revolves around her rivalry with Junko Yuina, a gifted artist whose talent undermines Emi’s fragile identity as a painter.

In the OVA, Emi’s insecurity drives her to bribe competition judges and later steal Junko’s artwork after recognizing its superiority. Junko is kidnapped, drugged, and killed under mysterious circumstances. Emi plagiarizes the stolen piece for a public exhibition, but her fraud unravels. Arrested alongside Gozo, both meet their end via a brainwashed peer manipulated by Remi.

The manga offers alternate developments: Emi initially pursues artistic acclaim through merit but spirals into brutality when challenged. She lures Junko into a deceptive car ride, cruelly ejecting her upon discovering her financial hardship. Emi later hires motorcyclists to mangle Junko’s painting hand and arranges the murder of Junko’s mother. Though Junko ultimately dies from a venomous snake attack by Ayumi’s gang, Emi’s actions precipitate her downfall. This version spares Emi’s life after Remi’s assassins fail to kill her, leaving her hospitalized.

Both adaptations underscore Emi’s manipulative tactics, dependence on her father’s authority, and ruthless elimination of competitors. Her OVA demise and manga survival reflect divergent narrative priorities, yet her core identity as a jealousy-driven antagonist fixated on artistic supremacy remains unchanged.
