Description
Ajeel Raml, the Desert King, hails from a small western Alakitasian country where he was once a prince. After his nation joined the Alvarez Empire, Emperor Zeref recruited him into the elite Spriggan 12 guard. He later commanded his own imperial unit, the Ajeel Squad.

Ajeel possesses dark skin, a muscular build, and wildly unkempt brown hair. His attire features a thin gold cloth around his neck and torso, exposing his chest, baggy brown trousers, spherical earrings, gold bracelets, and a forehead scarf bearing an eye motif. The Alvarez Empire symbol is marked below his right shoulder.

He exhibits a highly aggressive, informal, and arrogant personality, frequently addressing superiors without respect. Ajeel relishes combat, taunting opponents and expressing excitement for war, often exclaiming "sweet" when surprised by an adversary's strength. His sadistic nature enjoys others' suffering, and he displays a pronounced God complex, demanding worship in battle and declaring himself a deity within his sand domains. Despite this arrogance, he shows reverence for Emperor Zeref and Spriggan 12 leader August, immediately halting conflicts at their command. After the war, his demeanor shifted toward calmness and responsibility.

During the Alvarez invasion of Ishgar, Ajeel intercepted Makarov Dreyar's escape and pursued Fairy Tail rescuers using sand constructs, later leading an aerial assault on Magnolia Town. He battled Erza Scarlet, trapping and tormenting her with moisture-draining sand, and confronted Natsu Dragneel. Activating "Sand World," he engulfed Magnolia in a vision-obscuring sandstorm, claiming omnipotence. He was ultimately defeated when Erza exploited a distraction—caused by Natsu defeating Bakel—to wound him with her Sea King Sword, and Bisca Connell's Jupiter cannon pierced the storm, disrupting his execution attempt.

Following Zeref's defeat, Ajeel ascended as the new Alvarez Emperor, adopting a more serious and peaceful approach focused on rebuilding and avoiding conflict. He imparted his "Raml Sayf" sand technique to Fairy Tail's Max.

His grandfather is Yajeel, the Alvarez Empire's High Minister. Despite their contrasting personalities—Yajeel's diplomacy versus Ajeel's brashness—they share mutual concern. During the war, Yajeel intervened, pleading with Elfman and Lisanna to spare Ajeel by taking his own life instead.

Ajeel's magic, earning him the Desert King epithet, centers on sand manipulation. His abilities include creating sandstone golems for travel, summoning sand monsters like pterodactyls and wyverns, generating quicksand pits ("Ant Lion Pit"), conjuring dehydration waves ("Sands of Death"), transforming his body into sand, merging with sandstorms, and wielding sand-based weapons like the double-bladed axe "Raml Fa'as." His ultimate technique, "Sand World," produces a massive sandstorm where he moves freely and attacks unpredictably.
