OVA
Description
Naga, also known as Naga the Serpent or Naga the White Serpent, stars in the OVA series "Slayers: The Book of Spells." Her true name is Gracia Ul Naga Saillune, first daughter of Crown Prince Philionel El Di Saillune of the Holy Kingdom of Saillune and older sister to Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune. After her mother's assassination by the killer Booley, Naga achieved vengeance using the spell Chaos String. This trauma resulted in severe hemophobia, causing her to faint at the sight of blood. Discovering a distinctive black leather outfit in her mother's closet following the funeral, she adopted it as her signature attire and departed Saillune to travel and hone her magical skills. She maintains occasional contact with her homeland, receiving living expenses via messengers.

Naga possesses a tall, voluptuous frame she emphasizes through revealing clothing, often contrasting herself with Lina Inverse's smaller stature. Her personality blends extreme arrogance, greed, vanity, and a lack of common sense, frequently leading to comedic mishaps like spells backfiring or her impractical spiked spaulders injuring herself. She harbors an obsession with Lina, viewing her as the ultimate rival; their dynamic oscillates between partnership and antagonism, often influenced by financial gain. Her infamous, boisterous laugh is described as unbearably obnoxious, capable of driving entire towns to evacuate. She exhibits moments of denseness, refusing to acknowledge errors and instead attributing outcomes to her own "brilliant" planning.

A sorceress of exceptional prowess rivaling Lina's, Naga specializes in ice and water-based spells like Freeze Arrow, Ice Blast, and Freeze Bullet. She demonstrates proficiency in black magic, shamanistic magic, and white magic, including high-level spells such as Ra Tilt and Resurrection. She excels at creating golems and dragon-conjuring spells, though her creations often malfunction or rebel. Naga developed original spells including Bogardic Elm, Freeze Rain, Gu Ru Dooga, Mega Vu Vraimer, Void Breath, and Vu Raywa. Unique abilities include controlling jellyfish and surviving perilous situations unscathed. Despite carrying a large sword, her hemophobia prevents offensive use; she relies instead on defensive maneuvers or hand-to-hand combat.

In "The Book of Spells," Naga features in three episodes. "The Scary Chimera Plan" sees her confront magician Diol, who aims to transform Lina into a chimera. When Diol creates ten Naga clones, she proves immune to her own laughter, corrects their inferior laughs, assumes leadership, and aids in Diol's capture, highlighting her resilience. "Jeffrey's Knighthood" involves Naga and Lina hired by Josephine Mailstar to help her son Jeffrey become a knight; Naga's hemophobia is prominently displayed when she faints after Jeffrey draws bandit blood. "Mirror, Mirror" follows Naga and Lina pursuing a thief with a mirror creating personality-inverted duplicates, contrasting Naga's confidence with her clone's timidity. Across these adventures, her dynamic with Lina blends cooperation and rivalry driven by greed or mutual irritation.

Naga's Saillunian princess heritage remains unstated within the series, though her noble bearing and self-assured interactions with royalty hint at it. Her coat of arms, a white serpent, subtly alludes to her lineage. Despite her comedic flaws and frequent clashes with Lina, Naga occasionally displays loyalty, such as saving Lina from danger or clearing drugs from her system. Her character combines significant magical competence with humanizing vulnerabilities, serving as both foil and counterpart to Lina.
