Veronika A. Neugebauer was a German voice actor renowned for her extensive work in dubbing anime and live-action films, as well as her long-running role in a popular German audio drama series. Born in Munich on November 27, 1968, she was the daughter of the prominent voice actor Hartmut Neugebauer and began her career in the industry at the age of five. She pursued acting training in New York, Paris, and London, which underpinned her versatile performances.
Neugebauer became a familiar voice to German anime audiences through numerous prominent roles. She voiced the character Carmen in the film Nasu: Summer in Andalusia. She was the voice of Kyoko Milchan in the 2002-2003 anime series Heat Guy J. In the acclaimed animated film Paprika, she lent her voice to the protagonist, Dr. Atsuko Chiba, also known by her dream-self name Paprika. For fans of the Slayers franchise, she voiced the powerful and flamboyant sorceress Naga, the Serpent, in the German dub of the Slayers films and OVAs, including The Book of Spells. Perhaps her most iconic and widely recognized anime role was that of Ash Ketchum in the long-running series Pokémon. She took over the role in 2001 and voiced the character for over 300 episodes until 2009. Her other significant anime work included voicing Makoto Kino, also known as Sailor Jupiter, in Sailor Moon.
