Description
Iczer-1 is a gynoid or android created by the alien race known as the Cthulhu or Cthulwulf, for whom she was originally intended to serve as a guardian and future leader. Her physical appearance is that of a young woman around twenty years old, characterized by long blonde hair, pink eyes, and pointed, elf-like ears. She typically wears a pink leotard complemented by pieces of armor. Her creation is tied to an ancient, wish-granting machine, from which she and the entity Big Gold were born simultaneously from the mind of the Cthulhu matriarch, Sir Violet. In this metaphysical origin, Iczer-1 embodies the concept of Conscience, while Big Gold represents Desire.

When Big Gold seized control of the Cthulhu and corrupted their society, Iczer-1 was cast out and eventually arrived on Earth. Aware of the impending invasion of the planet by the now-corrupted Cthulhu, she took it upon herself to defend humanity against her own creators, a mission that defines her existence. This background instills in her a profound sense of loneliness, as she is forced to fight against the very people she was made to protect without fully understanding her own purpose.

To effectively combat the Cthulhu and utilize the full power of her giant mecha, the Iczer-Robo, Iczer-1 requires a human synchronization partner. The partner must possess intense emotions, particularly feelings of loss and anger, which are necessary to co-pilot the robot and unlock its ultimate weaponry. She selects Nagisa Kano, a Japanese schoolgirl, for this role. The dynamic between Iczer-1 and Nagisa is central to the narrative, but it is fraught with difficulty. Iczer-1’s nature as an android, coupled with her alien mindset, means she initially lacks the empathy and emotional intelligence to clearly communicate the gravity of the situation. She brings Nagisa into a terrifying war without her consent, teleports her into dangerous situations, and fails to protect her family from being transformed into parasitic creatures known as vedims. This leads Nagisa to blame Iczer-1 for the destruction of her life. Despite this, Iczer-1 professes to care for Nagisa, and her actions are driven by the desperate need to fulfill her mission and protect her chosen partner, even as her methods remain cold and pragmatic.

The relationship evolves through shared trauma and conflict. Although Iczer-1 struggles to understand human emotions, she reveals to Nagisa that she is an android learning to embrace her own feelings and that she fell in love with her. This bond is tested to its limit when the antagonist Iczer-2, a sister unit created by Big Gold, captures Nagisa and places her under powerful mind control. In a tragic climax, Iczer-1 is forced to kill Nagisa to stop her. However, in dying, Nagisa’s spirit merges with Iczer-1, allowing them to achieve full synchronization for the first time and granting Iczer-1 immense power. This sacrifice fuels Iczer-1’s final confrontation, where she defeats Iczer-2 and ultimately absorbs Big Gold, gaining control over time and space. Using this newfound power, she restores Earth to its state before the invasion, erasing the memory of the Cthulhu attack, before leaving the planet with the Cthulhu ship to find them a new homeworld.

Iczer-1 possesses a wide range of notable superhuman abilities. She can teleport herself and others, levitate, become invisible, and shift between dimensions. In combat, she is a highly skilled fighter capable of forming an energy sword, emitting knuckle beams, and demonstrating superhuman agility. She is also telepathic. Her connection to the Iczer-Robo is symbiotic, meaning any damage the mecha sustains is directly reflected on her own body; for instance, if the robot’s arm is severed, she loses the use of her corresponding arm. After merging with Nagisa’s spirit and absorbing Big Gold, her powers escalated to include the ability to restore the entire planet and manipulate reality.
