Description
Iczer-1 is an android created by the alien Cthulhu, also called Cthulwulf, to serve as their guardian and future leader. When the Cthulhu came under the control of the entity Big Gold, she was jettisoned and arrived on Earth. Aware of the impending Cthulhu invasion now commanded by Big Gold, she took it upon herself to defend the planet against her own creators.
She possesses blonde hair, pink eyes, and pointed elf-like ears, and typically wears a pink leotard with pieces of armor. Her primary mission on Earth was to find a human synchronization partner whose intense emotions, particularly a sense of loss and anger, were necessary to co-pilot the giant mecha Iczer-Robo and unleash its full combat capabilities. She selected Nagisa Kano, a Japanese schoolgirl, for this role. The connection between Iczer-1 and the Iczer-Robo is symbiotic; damage sustained by the mecha is directly reflected on her own body, such as losing the use of an arm when the mecha's corresponding arm was severed.
Her relationship with Nagisa is central to her story. Iczer-1 initially struggled with communication, creating a barrier to their synchronization, though their emotional rapport was essential for effectively fighting the Cthulhu. The partnership culminated when Nagisa was placed under powerful mind control by the antagonist Iczer-2; Iczer-1 was forced to kill her human partner to stop her. In dying, Nagisa's spirit merged with Iczer-1, allowing for their first and only full synchronization and granting Iczer-1 immense power.
She possesses a wide array of personal abilities, including teleportation, levitation, invisibility, dimensional shifting, forming an energy sword, emitting knuckle beams, and superhuman agility. She can also call upon and pilot the Iczer-Robo, which can fire energy cannons and emit tendrils of yellow energy. After merging with Nagisa's spirit and tapping into an ancient wish-granting machine, she gained the power to restore Earth to its pre-invasion state, effectively reversing time and erasing all memory of the Cthulhu attack.
Her origin is metaphysical. She and Big Gold were created simultaneously by an ancient alien machine designed to grant desires, born from the mind of the Cthulhu Matriarch, Sir Violet. Iczer-1 is the physical embodiment of "Conscience," while Big Gold represents "Desire." Her destined role was to fulfill the Matriarch's initial despairing wish by destroying the corrupted Cthulhu race on the eve of their finding a new homeworld.
Following the defeat of Big Gold and the restoration of Earth, Iczer-1 left the planet with the Cthulhu ship to find a new homeworld. In later continuities, she became the leader of the Cthulhu after Big Gold's defeat. Control of the Iczer-Robo was eventually passed to Iczer-3.
She is a skilled combatant, considered the most skilled fighter in the series. Demonstrations of her power include resisting shockwaves from clashes that were destroying moon-sized objects and creating an explosion that covered a small part of the galaxy during a battle with Neos Gold.
