Description
Lord Alberto, also known as Shocking Alberto or Alberto the Impact, is a major supporting character. He belongs to the Magnificent Ten, the ruling council of the elite terrorist group Big Fire. Alberto wields superhuman psychic abilities, primarily the power to absorb energy and unleash devastating shockwaves capable of destroying anything in their path.
He lost his right eye in a past battle against Taisou, an Expert of Justice. This conflict also claimed the life of his closest friend and colleague, Cervantes the Dazzling. These events ignited Alberto's deep hatred for Taisou and his persistent drive for revenge.
Despite his ruthless affiliation, Alberto demonstrates compassion and honor in specific contexts. He considers the Magnificent Ten his family. Hanzui, the current leader of the Ten, is his biological brother. Alberto also has a daughter, Sanny the Magician, sharing a perpetual telepathic bond with her. This link instantly alerts each if the other is harmed.
During Operation: Earth Standstill, Alberto operates under Genya, the Big Fire overseer of the project. Monitored by Koenshaku, Alberto cannot openly defy Genya's command. However, he remains suspicious of Genya's activities and motives, believing Genya acts against Big Fire's true interests. Accompanied by his aide, Ivan the Terrible, Alberto undertakes missions for Genya, including the failed attempt to seize the third Shizuma Drive sample from Interpol's Peking base, which resulted in Dr. Shizuma's death.
Alberto later confronts his nemesis, Taisou, in Shanghai. Though he seemingly defeats Taisou in combat, Alberto feels cheated of meaningful vengeance because Taisou sacrificed himself to ensure his comrades' escape before the Eye of Volger's blast wave destroyed the city. Alberto survives and follows Genya and the surviving Experts of Justice to the Himalayas. There, he discovers Genya's true identity as Emmanuel, son of Franken Von Volger, unmasking Genya's manipulation of Big Fire for a personal vendetta. Alberto threatens to expose Genya to the Magnificent Ten's judgment but is immobilized by Koenshaku. While bound, Genya shoots him through his cybernetic eyepatch using a gun taken from Ginrei.
Alberto survives by feigning death and falling into a snowy chasm containing the disabled Giant Robo. He enters suspended animation, clinging to the robot's right shoulder and concealing himself within a strange, indestructible white formation. Interpol later recovered Robo and transported it to Ryozanpaku but could not melt or remove the substance hiding Alberto. The Magnificent Ten remained uncertain of his survival until Hanzui received a telepathic communication from Sanny, speaking with Alberto's voice, confirming he lived.
In the final confrontation, Alberto emerges as Giant Robo attacks the Eye of Volger. He deliberately absorbs the immense energy field emitted by the orb into his body, draining its power and rendering it defenseless. He addresses Daisaku Kusama, stating his actions are not to save the world, but to ensure humanity's fate is decided by a final battle between the Experts of Justice and Big Fire, preventing Genya from achieving his personal goals.
