Description
Dr. Franken Von Volger (alternately Von Vogler or Von Folger), a brilliant scientist and theologian, collaborated with Dr. Shizuma to create the Shizuma Drive. This revolutionary energy source promised to solve humanity's needs. He lived in Bashtarle valley, Belgium, with his children Emmanuel and Falmelle (later Ginrei).

Nearing completion, Von Volger discovered a critical flaw in the prototype drives and urgently warned against activation, predicting catastrophe. Ignoring his objections, Dr. Shizuma and the team proceeded, triggering the "Tragedy of Bashtarle." The catastrophic meltdown annihilated Bashtarle and surrounding cities, claimed one-third of Earth's population, and caused the global Still Energy Phenomenon blackout.

While colleagues evacuated, Von Volger stayed, attempting to stabilize the reactor. Only Emmanuel's innate teleportation ability saved them. Consumed by guilt and despair over the disaster, Von Volger retreated into self-imposed exile within Bashtarle's ruins with Emmanuel. He withdrew completely, refusing to speak or eat, deteriorating physically and mentally.

His despair intensified when Emmanuel presented him with a completed Shizuma Drive unit now in global production. Von Volger locked himself in his ruined laboratory. Days later, near death and severely malnourished, he emerged. He instructed Emmanuel to take the three original Shizuma Drive prototype samples and use them to "stop Shizuma," dying moments later in his son's arms. Unbeknownst to Emmanuel, Von Volger had modified these prototypes to correct a fatal, undetectable flaw in the production drives: a toxic byproduct accumulating in the atmosphere that would eventually eradicate all oxygen, rendering Earth uninhabitable. He left a recorded message detailing this plan and his hope Emmanuel would save humanity, a message Emmanuel discovered much later.

After the disaster, Dr. Shizuma and surviving scientists publicly blamed Von Volger for the Tragedy, vilifying him throughout society and cementing his legacy as the scapegoat. This slander deeply impacted his children: Emmanuel, interpreting his father's last words as a call for vengeance, joined the terrorist group Big Fire and built the "Eye of Volger" to destroy the Shizuma Drive network. Ginrei, believing in her father's innocence, joined the Experts of Justice to protect the world.

Von Volger's true intentions and foresight emerged only after Emmanuel initiated his catastrophic campaign. His final act was one of redemption – correcting the Shizuma Drive's hidden flaw to prevent humanity's extinction, a plan fulfilled inadvertently through his son's conflict. His character embodies themes of scientific responsibility, the burden of legacy, and the consequences of historical revisionism.

His philosophical perspective is captured in his statement: "The future has shone upon us with its glorious brilliance! The time to seize our destiny and conquer all our fears is now! ... Finally we will escape the prison of our illusions, and the beautiful night will embrace us all," reflecting his complex view of progress, sacrifice, and humanity's relationship with energy and technology.
