Description
Falmelle Von Volger, known as Ginrei, is the daughter of Dr. Franken Von Volger, a co-developer of the Shizuma Drive. At age twelve, she survived the Tragedy of Bashtarle by teleporting to safety with her father's assistant, Professor Go Gakujin. For years afterward, she believed only she and Go escaped the catastrophe. This event spurred her rigorous training to become an elite operative for the International Police Organisation's Experts of Justice, adopting the alias Ginrei and renouncing her birth name.
Her training mastered martial arts, marksmanship, and disguise. She largely avoided using her innate teleportation ability, as each activation degraded her molecular structure and shortened her lifespan. While serving with Interpol, she formed a close rapport with Daisaku Kusama, the young commander of Giant Robo, often providing him guidance and emotional support akin to an older sister.
Ginrei proved pivotal in critical Interpol operations, rescuing Dr. Shizuma in Nanjing and safeguarding the third Shizuma Drive sample from Big Fire. Her resolve faltered when the Eye of Volger appeared, sparking suspicion her father survived and collaborated with Big Fire. Following Shanghai's fall, she discovered the Eye's controller was not her father, but her brother Emmanuel (Genya), who had manipulated events using their father's image.
Confronting Genya in the Himalayas, she learned he possessed the same teleportation ability and had also survived Bashtarle. Though she dismissed him as a murderous psychopath, she could not fight him directly. An avalanche rendered her unconscious, leading Interpol to place her in suspended animation at Ryozanpaku over fears she might side with Genya. Awakened by Daisaku during a Big Fire assault on Ryozanpaku, she performed an unprecedented mass teleportation, transporting the entire fortress to St. Abbey (formerly Bashtarle).
This feat drastically accelerated her physical deterioration. Boarding the Eye of Volger to confront Genya, her molecular structure broke down, causing her lower body to vanish. As she attempted to smash the Shizuma sample to thwart Genya's plans, he shot and killed her. Stricken by remorse, Genya installed the sample, inadvertently fixing the Shizuma Drive's flaws, and cradled Ginrei's remains until they disappeared completely.
A series of non-canonical spin-off OVAs featured Ginrei in episodic missions. These included recovering a stolen dress used for deception, confronting a giant robot modeled after her image (Ginrei Robo), and investigating a desert research team disappearance alongside Tetsugyu in a "wild west" setting. These adventures emphasized espionage and situational comedy, separate from her core character development and canonical storyline.
