Franken Von Volger, alternately spelled Von Vogler or Von Folger, was a brilliant scientist and theologian. He collaborated with Dr. Shizuma's team to create the Shizuma Drive, a revolutionary non-polluting renewable energy source designed to end humanity's energy crisis. During the project's final phase in Bashtarle, Belgium, Von Volger identified a critical flaw in the prototype drives. He urgently warned against activation, foreseeing catastrophic consequences. Shizuma and the other scientists dismissed his warnings and proceeded with the experiment. This ignited a reactor meltdown—the Tragedy of Bashtarle—obliterating the valley and surrounding cities, resulting in the loss of one-third of Earth's population.
While his colleagues evacuated, Von Volger stayed at the reactor in a desperate bid to stabilize the reaction. He survived solely because his son, Emmanuel (later known as Genya), used his innate teleportation ability to transport them both to safety. Consumed by guilt and despair, Von Volger returned to the ruins of Bashtarle with Emmanuel. He became reclusive, refusing to speak or eat. His physical and mental state deteriorated alarmingly. When Emmanuel later presented him with a completed Shizuma Drive now in global production, Von Volger suffered a complete breakdown and locked himself in his ruined laboratory.

He recorded this explanation and his true intention—correcting the flaw to secure humanity's prosperous future—hoping Emmanuel would find the message. Emmanuel tragically discovered the recording too late, after he had already initiated a catastrophic campaign of revenge against Shizuma and the world under the alias Genya, utilizing the terrorist organization Big Fire and constructing the devastating "Eye of Vogler" weapon.
