Kōtarō Hazuki is the chief scientist and engineer of the Jyusenki Tai (Cyber Beast Force), designing and constructing the four animal-inspired mecha—Eagle Fighter, Land Cougar, Land Liger, and Big Moth—that combine into the Super Robot Dancouga. His mecha, vital for Earth's defense against the Muge Zorbados Empire, transform between vehicle, animal, and humanoid forms and incorporate an "Aggressive System" activating defensive barriers when pilots experience heightened emotional states.

After General Ross Igor dies protecting the orphan Laura Sullivan, Hazuki assumes command of the Jyusenki Tai, captaining their headquarters ship, the Gandor, during the ongoing alien conflict.

In the sequel OVA *God Bless Dancouga* (1987), Hazuki continues leading the Jyusenki Tai. The story reveals Masato Shikibu's father, an arms manufacturer, was killed during a confrontation with Muge remnants. Hazuki oversees the team confronting new threats, including a rebel group formed by remnants of Alan Igor's elite corps.

The later OVA *Blazing Epilogue* (1989–1990) features Hazuki guiding the team through subsequent challenges, maintaining his position as the scientific and strategic authority within the Jyusenki Tai.
