Description
Ryô Shiba serves as a Cyber Beast Force pilot, operating one of the core machines that merge into the combined mecha. Orphaned early, he trains in Chinese Kenpo and infuses combat with spiritual discipline, shaping his quiet demeanor and methodical approach to martial arts and mecha operations. Renowned as his team's bravest member, he consistently shields others before himself against any threat, maintaining steadfast commitment to protecting loved ones amid mortal danger.
After military academy graduation, he embarked on solo travels to hone his Kenpo, eventually recruited by General Ross Igor into the Cyber Beast Force. He met future teammates post-battle in Kansas City. Following their initial commander's betrayal to the Neo Atlanteans, Captain Nemo took leadership. The Concept Change event later stranded Ryô in an alternate dimension, cutting all contact before he rejoined his commander and comrades.
In team dynamics, he stabilizes the unit, often tempering fellow pilot Shinobu Fujiwara's impulsiveness. His imposing height and strength align with the Land Liger mecha he commands—larger and more powerful than other component machines. Early reluctance to engage human-like adversaries occasionally proved exploitable, but this hesitation faded as team unity solidified and he embraced humanity's collective defense. He remained unmarried until after the Muge Zorbados Empire conflict.
Piloting the Land Liger, which shifts between vehicle, beast, and humanoid forms, Ryô anchors the combined mecha formed with the Eagle Fighter, Land Cougar, and Mammoth. His spiritual concentration enables the team's most devastating attacks: the DankuKogaKen channels a support unit's beam into a massive energy sword for long-range destruction. In the enhanced Final configuration, he powers the Final DankuHo beam cannon and the amplified Final DankuKogaKen. Flight capability was later added via a Mega Booster unit armed with pulse cannons, vulcan guns, and missiles.
