Description
Atsuko Higuchi, known as Nuku Nuku, is an escaped androbot prototype from the Mishima Corporation. Found suffering amnesia by the Natsume family—Professor Kyusaku, his wife Akiko, and their son Ryunosuke—she is taken into their home. Her amnesia, later revealed as selective and tied to her creation and escape, initially hides her true nature as an advanced combat android. Her origins differ significantly from other franchise versions.
She presents as a young woman approximately 19 years old, possessing light green hair often perceived as blonde and golden eyes. Her physical form is notably more mature and curvier than previous iterations. Actual blood flows within her, distinguishing her from purely mechanical constructs. Professor Higuchi, Kyusaku's colleague, created her and gave her his name, Atsuko Higuchi.
Nuku Nuku activates a "tactical mode" when protecting lives, enhancing her combat abilities. Civilians witnessing this state call her "Super Dynamite Girl." Her powers include superhuman strength, agility, and resilience, enabling her to overpower adversaries like malfunctioning robots, bioweapons, and corporate assassins. She exhibits a nurturing side, especially toward animals, adopting a litter of kittens and experiencing deep sadness upon their mother's death.
Her relationships with the Natsume family drive her development. Ryunosuke develops romantic feelings, remaining unaware of her dual identity until the series end. Kyusaku discovers her true nature early and secretly examines her in his hidden laboratory, seeking her secrets. Akiko, employed by Mishima, faces the task of retrieving or destroying Nuku Nuku, creating tension within the family.
Her backstory unfolds gradually: created as a failsafe against a destructive twin androbot designed to eradicate all life, both share a body modeled after a woman Professor Higuchi loved. Her tactical mode activates specifically to preserve life, opposing her twin's lethal programming. The series climax involves a confrontation where Mishima's young president, also an androbot, manipulates her with promises of revealing her past. He engineers attacks to consolidate corporate power, forcing her to confront her twin.
She exhibits emotional depth, including vulnerability, protectiveness, and loyalty. Bonds extend beyond the Natsumes, such as with a German combat robot she instinctively recognizes from her past life as a cat. Her journey culminates in regaining her memories and embracing her role as a guardian against her twin's destructive purpose.
