Movie
Description
Reydon, exiled prince of Da'nan and son of Lord Haven and Lady Meira, experienced a royal childhood marked by close bonds with human companions Kwairde and Nasare, and animals including his pet dog and horse Grabia. Witnessing the death of a family cat instilled in him a profound, lasting fear of mortality that shaped his lifelong emotional responses.
Following his parents' assassination during a Da'nan castle uprising, Reydon vowed revenge. His grief and desire for retribution drove him to answer the call of Barbas, god of Crystania, who promised power for service. This pact opened the Gods' Wall, allowing Reydon, Nasare, Kwairde, and the mage Aderishia entry into Crystania, followed later by the warrior Obier and his apprentice Raifan.
In Crystania, Reydon's sensitivity and impulsiveness defined his actions. He allied with Sheru, a dark elf seeking to free Ashram's soul from Barbas. Witnessing Barbas annihilate a village to demonstrate power deepened Reydon's hatred of senseless death. He attempted to save Rio, an enemy commander, during the attack, prioritizing life over factional loyalty. Grabia died during a daring approach to Dayton Castle, a loss Reydon mourned briefly before pressing onward.
At Dayton Castle, Barbas offered Reydon unlimited power for revenge in exchange for killing Sheru. Reydon rejected the offer outright, attacking Barbas instead. This refusal marked a pivotal shift from vengeful motivations toward a commitment to protecting others.
After Barbas' defeat, Reydon found relative peace as a blacksmith until unexplained voices and attacks by strange monsters signaled unresolved spiritual turmoil. He journeyed with Kwairde, Nasare, and the twins Irim and Kirim to locate Aderishia, revealed among Crystania's sealed individuals. During this quest, he rescued a man during a tornado despite risks, demonstrating persistent valor. He failed to prevent Irim's transformation into a "Key of Crystania," causing him significant distress, but persuaded Kirim to stay, showcasing growing influence.
Reydon accompanied Sheru to the Chaos World, confronting deepest traumas through visions of past deaths, including his childhood cat's loss. Kirim intervened to prevent him from losing himself in these memories, highlighting their bond. In Ashram's "heart castle," Reydon fought an illusion of Beld while supporting Sheru's efforts to reach Ashram. Kirim later underwent a final transformation, gaining wings to carry souls to the afterlife. Reydon struggled with this outcome, rejecting Crystania's fatalistic traditions, though Kirim acknowledged his role in teaching her autonomy.
Novel adaptations depict Reydon with greater ambition and active efforts to alter Crystania's societal structures, contrasting his more reactive animated portrayal.
