Description
Barbas began as a deity of rule, power, and vengeance among Crystania's animal gods. He remained neutral during the War of the Gods, fleeing to Crystania with other neutral deities. There, he shed his divine form, sealing his soul within a tiger's body to become the animal god king of rule, governing Berudia where his followers gained the power to morph into tigers.
Centuries later, Barbas encountered Ashram and his Lodoss followers, barred from Crystania by the Gods' Wall. Barbas offered passage in exchange for Ashram's body. Ashram accepted, and inhabiting this human form granted Barbas power surpassing other animal gods. He broke Crystania's established cycle, declaring himself "Gods’ King" with ambitions to conquer the land. Yet Ashram's soul fiercely resisted Barbas's control, creating an internal struggle for dominance.
Sensing the anger and vengeful desire in Redon, a prince of Da’nan orphaned by murder, Barbas promised him power. He lured Redon into Crystania by creating an opening in the Gods’ Wall. To demonstrate his might, Barbas annihilated an entire village occupied by the Fang of the Animal resistance, killing enemies and his own henchmen alike.
At Dayton Castle, Barbas attempted to sway Redon to his side, showcasing his strength and effortlessly dispatching Redon's allies. He demanded Redon kill the dark elf Sheru (formerly Pirotess) in exchange for power. When Redon refused, Sheru wielded the Chaos Ring against Barbas. Though he initially halted the ring, its influence disrupted his control over Ashram's body, leading to his defeat and exposing the vulnerability caused by Ashram's resisting soul.
Later, Barbas continued to torment Ashram's soul while posing as Beld, Ashram's former king. His influence reached into the Chaos Realm, pursued by Sheru using the Chaos Ring in her quest to free Ashram.
