TV-Series
Description
Konrad de Marbourg is a captain-level Inquisitor whose authority dictates law and governance in Rumble Town. He harbors extreme hostility toward immigrants and sorcerers, driven by xenophobic beliefs that they burden society; this bigotry motivated him to sabotage a sector of Rumble Town, causing its collapse.
Physically, Konrad transformed over time. Starting as a relatively tall man of average build with minimal facial hair during his early career, he later developed a heavily muscular frame, grew an exaggerated mustache, and adopted bulky armor. Ingesting a Techno-Magic potion further increased his muscle mass and darkened his skin.
His personality blends cynicism, cunning, and a domineering attitude. He manipulates public sentiment through propaganda, inciting mobs against immigrants and sorcerers by falsely blaming them for crises. Viewing himself as Rumble Town's indispensable protector, he justifies his destructive actions with self-righteousness, adopting the title "Rumble Town's Wall" as a sign of his delusion of grandeur.
Konrad demonstrates systematic cruelty. He conspired with the sorceress Hameline to orchestrate Nemesis attacks, framing immigrants for the chaos. Fifteen years prior to the main events, during one such attack, he incited citizens to murder Hameline's friends. He later betrayed and killed his superior, Major Oxumare, for showing compassion toward the infected, furthering his purge agenda.
His most heinous act involved deceiving civilians—including immigrants—into evacuating to the Inquisition headquarters under false pretenses of safety. He then bombed the structural chains supporting the headquarters' island, causing its collapse and murdering the evacuees, before callously framing immigrants for the atrocity.
In a confrontation with protagonist Seth, Konrad utilized his enhanced strength and armor in battle. Despite being defeated, his survival remains ambiguous; Seth initially believed himself responsible for Konrad's death before learning otherwise.
Konrad's namesake references the historical Konrad von Marburg, a 13th-century German inquisitor known for brutal heresy prosecutions involving unverified accusations, forced confessions, and executions, who was assassinated after accusing nobility of heresy.
